So… Why Sugar?

Sugaring is a form of hair removal that removes the entire hair from the root. If done on a consistent basis, hair will grow back slower, finer and much thinner over time. Most people find that with sugaring they have less irritation and ingrown hairs than when compared to shaving. (BONUS: It lasts a whole lot longer too!)

Let’s talk pain factor:

Some people compare the sensation of sugaring to ripping off a band-aid. It’s quick, and the pain is gone mere seconds after removal. Everyone has a different pain tolerance; it’s uncomfortable at worst, but definitely not unbearable. The most common reaction I get from clients is that it’s not near as painful as they expected. And the best news of all is that each time you sugar (provided you stay consistent) it gets easier and less painful. If you are really worried about pain, try taking an ibuprofen or aspirin around 30 minutes prior to your appointment. This will minimize discomfort.

I’m ready! What do I need to know before my first appointment?

It’s best to wait at least 2 weeks from your last shave/wax before coming in. Your hair must be at least ¼” long for the sugar to adhere properly. Do not bother trimming: the longer the hair, the better your results will be. Exfoliating the area to be sugared prior to your appointment is highly recommended. Stay away from lotions or oils – before AND immediately following. Also, now is a great time to take that ibuprofen or aspirin we discussed earlier!

What do I need to know about after care?

Your skin may be sensitive directly following your sugar. You should avoid sun exposure for 48 hours prior to and after sugaring. Also avoid creams and lotions, as well as activities like working out, swimming, etc. To prevent ingrown hairs, gently exfoliate at least twice per week. The most important rule of all is to NOT shave or trim between your sugaring appointments!

How often should I Sugar?

For best results, four weeks is the general rule. This may vary depending on the area being sugared as well as the individual rate at which your hair grows. Over time, your hair growth will become much sparser, resulting in sugaring more infrequently.

Alexandria Professional™ manufactures 100% of all its sugar pastes to ensure superb and consistent quality with each and every container. There are no chemical additives, no wax resins as a “cheat add-in”, and no essential oils as adding oils has no value for sugaring to extract body hair. Also, we could not endorse that our sugar pastes are deliciously edible if there were additives that could cause adverse reactions to some individuals. With the Alexandria technique, the sugar paste gently exfoliates only dead skin cells resulting in a much gentler sugaring even on delicate skin tissue areas like eyebrows and bikinis.

Most clients see an immediate improvement, after the first or second sugaring, in body hair refinement and in many cases diminishment while improving the condition of their skin without the big $$$ tag associated with other body hair removal alternatives.

#7. Our Sugar Pastes are 100% water-soluble.

There is no risk of damage or staining to client’s clothes, and more importantly no damage to your skin. The Alexandria sugar paste is easily washed away after sugaring with lukewarm water. You will leave your sugaring treatments feeling clean and smooth… one less thing for you to worry or think about!

#6. Trained and certified Alexandria Practitioners massage our Advanced Sugar Paste onto the skin by hand at lukewarm temperature.

No risk of burning your skin! This is where the sugaring magic begins to happen with our clients. When the sugar paste is massaged onto the skin, it allows the paste to seep into the follicles which in turn allows the body hair to “slide” out more comfortably for a complete extraction without body hair breakage. Side effect… some clients actually fall asleep during sugaring. Now that’s smoooooth…!!

#5. The Alexandria Sugar Pastes are 100% hygienic.

Our certified practitioners never re-use the sugar paste and always wear gloves on both hands. Sugar paste is always discarded after each client is treated. Another great benefit to the Alexandria Sugar Pastes is that bacteria does not breed in high concentrates of sugar eliminating the possibility of cross contamination. #4. Alexandria Professional™ Pre & After Care System is very effective.

Pre-sugaring and after-sugaring care is essential to eliminate any chance of skin reaction from the actual extraction of body hair. But, that’s only one crucial factor. The other relevance to Pre & After Care is to eliminate skin irritation due to improper skin care before and after sugaring for body hair removal. All Alexandria products have been formulated, tried and tested, and proven extremely safe and effective. None of our products are tested on animals, only humans with very pleasing results.
